Basic Shotgun Instruction

N.R.A. Basic Shotgun Training

Course Description: This course has been designed for the average person interested in learning how to properly handle and shoot the shotgun.  During this training, the student learns about the various types of shotguns available, how to safely handle shotguns, the various parts of shotguns, and the proper shooting position when firing the shotgun.  Students also learn about sighting the shotgun, proper breath control, and how to clean their shotgun.  After the student has completed the classroom portion of the training, they go to the range and practice what they have learned by shooting the gun. The student will also learn about shotgun ammunition, and the components that make up shotgun shells. This course is a minimum of  of 10 hours in length.  Students will receive an N.R.A. certificate of completion.

Topics: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target.

Length: ten hours

Prerequisites: The minimum age for this training is 10 years old. All students under the age of 18 are required present written permission from a parent or guardian.

Required Equipment: A shotgun (any kind) and 20 rounds of birdshot
